I’ve updated the thing… centered around the Smithfield area.

Joani got me started on the PITT line and I’ve solved some perplexing mysteries (I hope  🙂

Added are these little jewels…

Seawards Creek (including Goose Hill creek)

New Towne Haven River (I had that puppy totally screwed up in my earlier version)

Bard Creek

Pagan Point Creek

Col. Pitt’s Creek  (this was noted in 1674 when the Nansemond county line was finally settled)

Well you IOW researchers get the drift…

  1. I have several comments but I haven’t learned yet whether they can be made during reading – OH WELL, here goes. Back where you mentionted Willis Pitt – I believe this is a different line of Henry Pitt, the one who m. into the Newman family (Henry Pitt, Jr., son of Henry Sr. who m. Penelope Bullock, BUT, if not, I surely would like to see the connection to the lineage of John, s/o Col. Robert. Also, that Joseph born in 1762. I’m beginning to wonder if perhaps James, son of John and Olive might have taken in the John and Joseph of Henry’s sons, maybe the daughter also, but have not seen anything to prove it yet. That Henry who says he was born 1760 – Bible record, I am wondering WHO his father was and IF his Bible is available anywhere. Wonder, wonder! I’ve copied a bit to study, but it seems to me to be two different lines. Two tidbits to put on the shelf, quite often I have found a “John” who liked to be called “James” – very confusing. One Joseph Major Pitt/s married into that Brown lineage. He was the son of a Henry Pitt who at one time m. an Elizabeth Major/s. Lib
